Roger Jansen, PhD

Roger E. Jansen, PhD is senior vice president, strategy and chief human resource officer at Spectrum Health, a not-for-profit, leading, integrated health system based in West Michigan. He has extensive executive management, strategic and organizational development experience. Roger has led organizations through transformational change, cultural shifts and workplace innovation to achieve sustainable growth.

 Serving as the Senior Vice President of Strategy, Roger is responsible for developing and managing the long-range strategies for Spectrum Health and leading the organization’s strategic planning process. 

Roger is also responsible for the oversight of system-wide human resource functions. This includes human resource initiatives that support the business plans, core values and missions of Priority Health, Spectrum Health Medical Group and Spectrum Health Hospital Group.  


Prior to joining Spectrum Health in August 2011, Roger was CEO of ThinkWise Inc., an organizational learning, consulting and technology company in Grand Rapids, Mich. Roger also led Leadership Capital Group, which provided strategic, organizational design and human capital planning and consulting efforts to Fortune 500 and family-owned companies throughout the globe. Roger’s entrepreneurial experiences has led to his forming three successful technology companies that remain based in West Michigan.  

 Roger conducted his professional training in the areas of clinical and neuropsychology earning an MA and PhD in psychology both from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1996 and 1999, respectively.  In 1993, Roger completed his undergraduate work in psychology and biology at Michigan State University. 


Roger has held many civic- and business-related board positions, including chair of the Board of Directors for ThinkWise Inc., chair of the Board of Managers for Southeast YMCA and YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, and as a board member for School-to-Career Progressions in Grand Rapids, Michigan’s Most Outstanding Companies, the Association for Corporate Growth® Western Michigan, The Factory, Hello West Michigan, West Michigan for Arts and Technology, and Love N Kindness a program for homeless veterans.
